Associate Investment Advisor

Job Summary

The Associate Investment Advisor will be a licensed Registered Representative who will work closely with and support the Investment Advisor in all aspects of our Wealth Management program, including servicing existing clients and business development. The Assoicate Investment Advisor will be responsible for processing trades, scheduling client meetings, monitoring portfolios and participating in some client meetings.

Accountabilities & Duties

  • Manage daily administrative functions, including communicating with clients, scheduling meetings, and maintain organized client files
  • Act as the first point of contact for clients and respond to client inquiries in a professional and timely manner
  • Regularly monitor client portfolios and assist the Investment Advisor in the overall portfolio management tasks including trade execution, asset allocation reviews and suggested adjustments, and review of equity research on existing stocks in portfolios
  • Coordinate client review meetings and may sit-in or participate in some client review meetings
  • Coordinate and execute marketing initiatives, including events, phone campaigns and print marketing

Experience & Education Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in the Investment/Wealth Management industry preferably in a client facing role
  • Post-secondary degree in business, economics or another related field
  • Able to be IIROC registered
  • Completion of Canadian Securities Course (CSC) required
  • Completion of Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH) or willingness to complete within 90 days of hiring date
  • Completion of Wealth Management Essentials (WME) or willingness to complete within 90 days of hiring date
  • Willing to complete additional industry related designations in the future

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Strong understanding of capital markets, portfolio management techniques including asset allocation, risk tolerance, equity research
  • Exceptional client servicing and customer service skills
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Passion for investments and desire to learn in career
  • Proven relationship development and management experience
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience or familiarity with Datafile, Morning Star Advisor, Plan Plus, and/or Market Q considered an asset
