Senior Employee Communications and Events Specialist 

DUCA is currently looking for a Senior Employee Communications and Events Specialsit to join our dynamic Marketing Team! 

Job Purpose & Summary

The Senior Employee Communications & Events Specialist will develop and execute key aspects of DUCA’s employee communications strategy. This position will partner with internal stakeholders (People & Culture; IT; Retail and others) to develop communication plans and tactics that help reinforce DUCA’s strategic priorities, promote a positive employee experience, and keep employees informed and engaged with the latest news and developments. This position will create a variety of communications products and content (articles, blogs, videos, presentations; will lead and/or participate in projects related to employee communications and will lead the planning and logistics of employee events. 

This position will independently manage the day-to-day processes and content related to the company intranet while partnering with the Senior Manager, Employee Communications & Events to develop and implement the associated strategy and governance framework. Additionally, this individual will help identify gaps and opportunities related to employee communications, as well as problem-solve and implement solutions.

Key Accountabilities & Duties

  • Provide day-to-day communications support and advice to internal stakeholders, including People & Culture, IT, and Retail partners
  • Lead the development and execution of communication plans related to functional/department level business initiatives; act as a communications business partner for assigned teams across the organization
  • Support the development of the overall strategy and associated governance framework for DUCA’s employee communication platforms and manage the development and execution of day-to-day processes, content creation, and platform maintenance
  • Develop and manage the content calendar for the company intranet (articles, blogs, video, photos) to drive employee engagement, reinforce strategic objectives, and support organizational culture
  • Develop and report on the metrics/KPIs related to DUCA’s employee communications platforms
  • Propose, develop, and execute net new initiatives that help drive employee communication objectives
  • Work with internal partners to create a social media content strategy in support of recruitment marketing goals that tells DUCA’s story as an employer of choice and promotes a positive employee experience
  • Lead the planning, logistics, and content creation for assigned employee events
  • Stay abreast of employee communications trends and best practices to continuously improve the employee communications function at DUCA

Occupational Experience & Education Requirements

  • Post-secondary degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Media or related field
  • 4+ years professional experience in corporate and/or employee communications
  • Experience leading the development and execution of end-to-end communication plans for department level initiatives and internal business partners
  • Experience with managing multiple aspects of company intranets, including uploading and organizing content, assessing information architecture, owning vendor relationships, tracking success measurements, etc.  
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and various communications tools and programs (e.g. Adobe Creative Suite, SharePoint)

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Knowledge of communications concepts, practices, and technology, including external social media and internal social networks
  • Creative self-starter; shares new ideas to make employee communications fresh and engaging
  • Superior writing and editing skills with the ability to adjust style to various audiences and mediums; can translate complex ideas into easy to digest messages
  • Strong graphic design, video production, and photography skills to create compelling and professional content for our company intranet site and social channels
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time
  • Comfortable in a changing environment with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship management skills; comfortable providing advice to stakeholders across the organization

Working Conditions 

This position works in a fast-paced office environment and may be required to travel to branch locations on an infrequent basis.  Standard work week of 38 hours with additional time required to meet deadlines and project deliverables.
