Securitization and Funding Analyst I

Job Purpose & Summary

The Securitization and Funding Analyst I is responsible for various functions and duties related to Securitization and Funding programs.

Key aspects of the role for Securitization are back-office processing and document administration. This requires adherence to strict deadlines as set out by Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) for the successful settlement of both National Housing Act Mortgages Backed-Securities (NHA MBS) and Canada Mortgage Bonds (CMB).

Key aspects of the role for Funding are analysis, pricing and administration of Term Deposit channels including Market-Linked GIC program.

Overall, the Securitization and Funding Analyst is expected to operate with a high degree of collaboration, accuracy, and attention to detail with a drive to deliver outstanding service to external stakeholders as well as internal stakeholders.

 

Key Accountabilities & Duties

Securitization

  • Accurately analyze, prepare, and distribute Securitization documentation while adhering to strict reporting deadlines
  • Coordinate with all key stakeholders, including but not limited to, Consultants, Issuers, Custodians, Swap Counterparties, and other related parties to ensure strict deadlines are adhered to
  • Support pricing and set-up of NHA MBS as High Quality Liquid Assets (HQLA) pools on Bloomberg
  • Computation of revenue recognition of HQLA income and expenses while adhering to all submission reporting deadlines
  • Accurately analyze and prepare ongoing accounting entries and reconciliations, including posting of General Ledger (GL) entries, of on and off-balance sheet securitization balances and related payments
  • Accurately analyze and record daily data relating to Securitization cash flows for all Issuers
  • Analyze and prepare reporting of Securitization maturities as a Percentage of Regulatory Capital
  • Develop, document and update procedures in the Securitization Procedures Binder and ensure it is accurate
  • Prioritize and adjust work activities according to the Treasury team’s overall strategy

 

Funding

  • Accurately track and analyze competitor pricing in Branch and Broker Term Deposit channels
  • Recommend changes to pricing of Branch and Broker Term Deposits to meet funding requirements
  • Accurately prepare and distribute rate change sheets for Branch and Broker Term Deposits
  • Recommend changes to pricing of Market Linked GIC program to meet funding requirements
  • Accurately execute administrative aspects of Market Linked GIC’s program including, but not limited to, accounting entries, reconciliation, reporting and collaboration with key stakeholders like DUCA Deposits Administration department and external hedging counterparty(ies)
  • Create and maintain tracking of competitor pricing for other funding sources including, but not limited to, chequing accounts, savings accounts, and high-interest savings accounts
  • Recommend changes to pricing of chequing accounts, savings accounts, and high-interest savings accounts to meet funding requirements
  • Create and post, or review and release, Treasury related outgoing wire transactions
  • Review and process Treasury related incoming wire transactions along with associated service charges
  • Prioritize and adjust work activities according to the Treasury team’s overall funding strategy

 

Share Accounting

  • Reconciliation of Share offering initiatives
  • Monitor redemptions to ensure redemptions do not breach regulatory maximums

 

Other Duties

  • Assist with month, quarter and year-end processing and reporting
  • Prepares ad-hoc and other reports as directed
  • Ensures timely completion of compliance and reporting requirements
  • Support internal and external audits
  • Other duties, as assigned

 

Occupational Experience & Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, or related area of study
  • 2+ years’ experience in Finance and/or Securitization
  • Experience building simple financial models
  • Retail banking experience considered an asset
  • Credit Union experience considered an asset

 

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills including proficiency with Excel and Word
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience using a Banking System, specifically DNA, is considered an asset
  • Proven problem-solving and investigative skills
  • Able to take ownership of projects and manage multiple simultaneous priorities
  • Ability to work quickly and accurately, with outstanding attention to detail and meticulous organizational skills
  • Good judgement and decision-making capabilities
  • Ability to prioritize, adapt to change, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • A self-motivated team player that is results oriented

 

Working Conditions

Normal office environment, hybrid available, with standard work week of 38 hours with additional time required to meet deadlines and project deliverables.
