Director, Commerical Leasing

Job Purpose & Summary

Reporting to the VP, Commercial Banking, Construction, and Leasing, the Director, Commercial Leasing will be responsible for independently developing, securing, and closing profitable equipment lease financing transactions between $50K - $2MM within DUCA’s trading area.  In addition to developing a well-respected and identified in-market brand for DUCA for Commercial Leasing by soliciting and managing channels of business from Brokers and Vendorsthis position will also work closely with the Commercial Banking teams to provide existing Members value-added leasing solutions.

Key Accountabilities & Duties

  • Independently develop and maintain a profitable commercial leasing portfolio with individual transactions valued between $50K and $2MM; actively seek out and leverage vendor networks to achieve annual sales targets and portfolio objectives
  • In partnership with Commercial Credit, negotiate structure, terms, and pricing on Lease Agreements that contribute to business unit profitability and in keeping with DUCA’s Credit Risk Policies; develop and submit completed lease credit application packages for adjudication
  • Prepare and implement market management plans that address broker education and management, internal awareness within DUCA, and direct business solicitation
  • Solicit business opportunities from direct Member contacts, broker and vendor relationships, and credit union affiliations
  • Coordinate accurate lease document execution, vendor profiling, and equipment inspections as may be required upon receipt of credit approvals in conjunction with our Leasing service provider
  • Solicit participation of our Branch network; provide lease product information and facilitate equipment leasing workshops and training seminars
  • Provide deal specific expertise, coaching, and knowledge to credit union commercial lenders to help identify and develop equipment financing opportunities
  • Build organizational and product visibility at local and regional levels; represent DUCA at community, business networking, and trade association events; join key industry associations to promote DUCA’s in-market Leasing brand within our trading area while also gathering market information
  • Actively monitor the portfolio to ensure accounts are operating as authorized and take measures necessary to remedy non-performing assets to ensure internal metrics are met on a consistent basis
  • Work closely with all DUCA departments to facilitate open, candid lines of communication with effective processes in place to ensure AOP targets are met, and the Member experience is viewed as Best in Class within our trading area
  • Provide regular reporting relating to sales, training, and brand promotion activities

Occupational Experience & Education Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in business, finance, or related area or equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in Commercial Leasing in the GTA
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in business development and/or sales management
  • Experience with people leadership or mentoring a team an asset

  • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task and meet tight or conflicting priorities
  • Ability to manage complexity and the requirement to conform with regulatory, legal, and ethical rules and norms
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite with strong knowledge of Excel

Working Conditions

Regular office/hybrid environment with some travel and after-hours requirements to attend networking and business development events.
