Security Operations Center (SOC) Analyst 

DUCA is currently looking for a SOC Analyst to join our IT team! 

Job Purpose & Summary

The SOC Analyst is a cybersecurity professional is responsible to monitor and fight threats to DUCA's IT infrastructure, and to assess security systems and measures for weaknesses and possible improvements.

The incumbent will provide a situational awareness using a combination of technologies to properly identify, analyze, investigate, communicate, respond, and report cybersecurity incidents.

The SOC Analyst is detail oriented with great communication skills and an ability to troubleshoot problems. Passion in Cyber Security is a mandatory requirement.   

Key Accountabilities & Duties

  • Responsible for working in a 24x7 Security Operation Center (SOC) environment
  • Provide analysis and trending of security log data from many heterogeneous security devices
  • Provide Incident Response (IR) support when analysis confirms actionable incident
  • Provide threat and vulnerability analysis as well as security advisory services
  • Analyze and respond to previously undisclosed software and hardware vulnerabilities
  • Investigate, document, and report on information security issues and emerging trends
  • Determine if the event is a genuine incident and assess the immediate impact on the business
  • Integrate and share information with other analysts and other teams
  • Develop Threat Risk Assessments for DUCA environment
  • Vulnerability Scanning and reviewing assessment reports
  • Manage and configure security monitoring tools
  • Other tasks and responsibilities as assigned
  • Participate in IT Project work
  • Lead the coordination of information gathering for internal and external audits
  • Other duties as assigned

Occupational Experience & Education Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
  • Two years of related work experience, preferably in IT Security, Information Systems, or IT related fields.
  • Understanding of MITRE ATT&CK® framework and its operational use.
  • Ability to consume information from threat intelligence sources and produce/Update a TRA for DUCA’s environment
  • Understanding of common network vulnerabilities and penetration testing tools including but not limited to Metasploit, Qualys, Nessus, and Nmap
  • Broad information cybersecurity knowledge, including familiarity with common attack methodologies, tactics and protocols, Advance Persistent Threat groups, Hacker activities, etc.

Knowledge, Skills & Attributes

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office365 suite of products
  • Strong written and spoken communication and collaboration skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking and analytical skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage workload
  • Working knowledge of network routing and switching
  • Understanding of Windows Operating Systems for desktops and servers
  • Experience with:
    • Microsoft Defender ATP
    • Microsoft Security Center
    • Microsoft Azure Sentinel
    • Securonix
  • Experience with the following considered an asset:
  • Microsoft Certification
  • Cisco Certification
  • Security Certifications such as CISSP
  • Nice to have, experience working on a 24x7 Security Operations Center or Managed Security Service Provider

Working Conditions 

Normal office environment with a standard work week of 38 hours with additional time required to meet deadlines and project deliverables. Occasional evening and weekend work, sometimes with little advance notice.
