Job Summary

We are currently seeking an outstanding candidate to lead the West Region team at DUCA.

Reporting to the Vice President, Retail Banking the position is responsible for leading a team of branches within a designated geographical region toward the achievement of sales and revenue targets. The Regional Vice President is responsible for ensuring the optimal member experience is delivered along with being responsible for oversight and management of branch operations, human resource and performance management. The Regional Vice President will be actively involved in supporting the team in targeted community activities and market involvement. The Regional Vice President will be an active member of the community at the Regional level promoting DUCA and the services and advice we offer.

The Regional Vice President will provide direction that is consistent and in support of DUCA’s Vision, Mission and Values with a focus on strengthening DUCA’s brand, increasing market share and member share of wallet, and delivering the optimal member experience.  The Regional Vice President will manage to ensure flawless execution of corporate strategies, initiatives, and changes. The incumbent will demonstrate the ability to embrace change and translate strategy into action to build commitment and enthusiasm at the branch level. The Regional Vice President will work with the Retail team to provide input into Retail strategies and tactics both at the corporate and Regional level.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Establishes sales and revenue plans and objectives and manages for results by defining high expectations for self and branch teams.
  • Leads and manages the sales and revenue planning process adjusting plan and forecast as required to ensure region meets or exceeds all performance targets.
  • Coaches, develops and mentors managers and branch staff by equipping them with the sales, service, and advice skills and disciplines necessary to delivery holistic advice and guidance to our members in order to improve their financial health and wellbeing.
  • Develops and enables an engaged, capable, and confident regional team in order to implement programs and processes focused on building deep relationships with members. Actively seeks opportunities to recognize staff and share best practices.
  • Implements and leads consistent sales and service practices across the region and supports staff through coaching to build skill, close gaps,  and improve performance
  • Contributes and collaborates with partner regions and corporate functional groups to identify business practices and solutions with a focus on continuous improvement, results, and the optimal member experience
  • Actively creates and maintains a market profile and works with managers to align resources with highest opportunity to those markets with the highest opportunity
  • Maintains and adheres to risk management policy and procedures ensuring managers and teams are up to date and in compliance
  • Executes regional-level operations reviews to ensure all branches are compliant
  • Takes action to close gaps and identify deficiencies resulting from corporate audits and independently from the audit process
  • At the regional level, actively seeks involvement in the community on behalf of DUCA and commits to, and champions, DUCA’s corporate social responsibility strategy
  • Leads and supports the successful roll-out of new products, services, and initiatives
  • Works in close partnership with the Vice President of Wealth, AVP Service Delivery, Director of Sales Effectiveness, and other experts to maximize Regional and branch-level opportunity across all key business drivers
  • Works in close partnership with the Vice President, Retail Banking to champion and implement corporate strategies and programs
  • Participates in head office and corporate-level projects as required to move Retail Banking forward
  • Develops and executes a flawless communication plan for the Region to update on initiatives, opportunities, and programs
  • Executes and adheres to Retail Banking Sales Management programs and practices
  • Embraces additional duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • A minimum of seven years related leadership experience, preferably in branch banking
  • Head Office or Corporate Office Experience, in some capacity
  • Advanced Bachelor's degree preferably in Business with equivalent banking experience.
  • Proven sales management skills with a history of achieving outstanding results
  • Full understanding of all banking related products and services.
  • Ten years of prior retail bank /credit union lending experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of holistic advice practices
  • Advanced knowledge of Mutual Funds and Wealth Management practices
  • Full understanding of the importance of the member (customer) experience.
  • Forward-thinking, innovative, collaborative and team based.
  • Strong coaching, performance management, communication (verbal-written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven conflict resolution, people management and leadership skills.
  • High Integrity and authentic leadership principles
  • Strong business writing skills (strategy recommendations, corporate communications).

  • Excellent and proven critical thinking skills and decision-making ability.
  • Proficient in Excel & Word
  • Knowledge of all regulatory issues and licenses.
  • Comfortable with regular weekly travel throughout the region and to head office when required.
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License and Automobile
