Senior Manager, Business Banking

Job Purpose & Summary

The Senior Manager, Business Banking will work closely with the VP and Directors of Commercial Banking to build and implement the strategic plan for the business banking sales channel and identify and deliver the products, tools, processes, team, and competencies required to support this strategic plan. This role will lead, coach, inspire, and expand a team of Business Banking Account Managers as they deliver outstanding service to Members and continue to grow DUCA’s market share.

Key Accountabilities & Duties

  • Drive the short-term and long-term agenda for DUCA’s Business Banking channel by developing and owning both strategic and tactical solutions for Business Banking products, processes, and Member acquisition
  • Lead an end-to-end review of DUCA’s Business Banking strategy, tools, processes, and product offerings
  • Build collaborative relationships and work with external and internal business partners to identify and deliver improvement in these areas that will enhance the Member and employee experience and grow DUCA’s market share in Business Banking
  • Act as a subject matter expert to external and internal stakeholders and demonstrate thought leadership related to Business Banking
  • Monitor the development of new technologies, market trends, and competitive initiatives and identify how DUCA can utilize these, and Members can benefit from these developments
  • Lead and grow a team of engaged Business Banking Account Managers to meet current and future DUCA Member’s needs. Provide coaching and guidance that will enable DUCA to grow through attracting new small business Members and by deepening relationships with existing Members
  • Meet with existing and prospective Members to represent the DUCA brand, understand their business and provide guidance and products to help Members do more, be more, and achieve more
  • Develop Business lending and credit writing competencies within the organization. Review and provide guidance on Business Banking lending policy so DUCA can meet Member’s needs while mitigating the credit risk
  • Ensure compliance to brand, product, and risk management standards in all Business Banking activities

Occupational Experience & Education Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in Business or related field, with graduate degree and/or professional designation considered an asset
  • 6-8+ years of work experience in the financial services industry, with a focus in small business or commercial banking
  • Experience managing others and coaching direct reports to improve their sales and relationship management skills
  • Experience leading complex projects with proven ability to deliver them on time and within budget
  • Planning, implementation, and change management experience
  • Proven success in collaboration while driving business growth as well as establishing community and client relationships

  • Excellent relationship development and management skills, with the ability to work well with teams, senior leaders and internal and external stakeholders at all levels

  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills with experience directing and influencing others at all levels
  • High integrity and authentic leadership principles
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to translate analytics, research and Member’s needs into actionable plans and deliverables
  • Aptitude to work with multiple stakeholders and develop project teams to assist in the implementation and execution of new products and services
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite

Working Conditions

  • Regular travel between branches throughout the GTA
  • Normal office/hybrid environment
